I use instagram a lot. I find it's a better forum for personal work (despite the copyright and 3rd party issues that arose earlier this year) But also I've found some absolutely amazing creative people to follow. Some really talented bastards. It's really inspirational. I follow quite a few curio/wuderkammer, Taxidermy and entomology instagram accounts. Usually a lot of curio jewellery designers who not only make wonderful jewels but really make the effort to tell their followers about the methods they used to make their jewellery and just general information about their topic of interest. I find that it's a completely different picture sharing site, things tend not to get lost like on tumblr. I haven't started using pinterest yet, but I'm sure I'll be all over that like a rash soon enough. Anyway, I follow a lady called Annie Loucks, of Ladylocks creations and heres her instagram account. She makes some really gorgeous jewellery so I proposed a trade. Here is part one. A little a5 graphite/micron and gold leaf illustration. I'm thinking about doing a bit of a fancy wax seal on it, but might just leave that for the envelope. Also a little preview of my ever expanding personal collection of pretties.

10 commandments/Tarot cards
Haven't blogged in a while! Uni is over for the summer and here are some bits and pieces from my last project. The project was to illustrate the 10 commandments, I really wanted to practice drawing skulls as it's not something I usually include in my illustration, despite my love affair with the macabre. So using Memento Mori and 'The day of the dead' as inspiration I created these using graphite and fine liners. I tried to make them as intricate and detailed as possible as I also wanted to experiment with different textures. I really like the combination of graphite and ink. Personally I think they would make great tattoos. It was really fun coming up with different depictions for each commandment. I tried to stay away from clichés and fully focus on aesthetics. Using the arrows as symbols for conscious thought. I also got a great commission out of this for KILLSTAR clothing for their winter collection, so keep an eye out for that. I'm going to make some more a3 prints of these, so any requests for individuals or just the set on a3 are welcome. I might even make little sets of decorative tarot card packs.

Live drawing progress part deux
I finished the room by Thursday last week so it could be up for Friday. I don't think many people really saw it and I'm a bit disappointed I didn't video me creating it. I will definitely do something like this again. 4 walls 4 days and a shit load of posca pens and I'm pretty proud of myself. It was absolutely soul destroying having to paint over it on Monday morning for the next course exhibition.

Exhibition prep!
Arghhh! So much work, so little time. This year is a big ol' stress. Though despite the feeling like my brain will implode at any second, I'm really enjoying the uni projects at LCC. The set here will be exhibited at our first exhibition as a year this coming week in the well gallery. I worked fucking hard on these, still a bit to do like trimming down and working out placement. Everyone's work looks fantastic. I'm also doing a live drawing project throughout the week in a little black painted, poorly lit and ventilated room in the gallery, it's going to kill me. I'll probably emerge on Friday resembling a slimy humanoid creature from the film 'the descent'. Hopefully it will be videoed. Wish me luck!

A new style - Mythology and musings
I've really enjoyed working with graphite recently also added a little gold leaf of which I think works really well. Inspired by greek mythology - Ceryneian Hind, Artemis, Hercules and nymphs. The illustrations below will be exhibited at LCC next week! Looking forward to it, have to do 5 more for the exhibition.

Screen Printy times.
I learned how to screen print with the lovely Ian Patterson (click on his name to view his screen printy goodies) yesterday! It definitely seems like a medium that suits me. Got all excited when the first print came out.
....and then of course we moved on to tshirts. I'm so happy with them!
